What is an Affinity group?

PowerTel Resources Ltd. offers a fund raising initiative, which applies easily to clubs of all sizes. Funds are raised through an Affinity Group, i.e. a group of individuals with a common interest. There is a wide array of affinity groups in existence, the most notable of which is SCOPE, the nation’s sixth largest charity.

The concept is simple, an affinity group raises funds, by saving its members & supporters money through subscribing to cheaper utilities & telecommunications. Fees are not involved. In return, the members & supporters are happy in the knowledge that they are giving financial support to the institution of their choice, whilst saving money for themselves.

An example of income   (based on 50 subscribing members/supporters)

Most clubs could raise substantial income from this fund raising initiative.
As a guide, the potential value to a club, could look like: -

Service Annual Spend Introduction Fees
Gas N/A £450
Electricity N/A £250
** Telephone £6,000 £300
Total £1000

** spending an average of £30 per quarter on telephone calls.

Think about these earnings, based on your own expenditure, and see how possible it is to raise substantial sums with absolutely no risk to yourself, other than having to buy a bigger wallet to keep your own personal savings in!

Commission Payments to Clubs

How it works

The broker, PowerTel Resources Ltd arranges for the provision of cheaper Gas & Electricity Supplies and Telephone Services to a club’s members & supporters. Suppliers will be chosen from companies approved by the relevant government regulator. (E.g. Ofgem and Oftel). The companies are all household names.  The actual supplier chosen will be dependent on prevailing prices in the area in which the customer lives.

The service is free to the club with savings to members & supporters can be very significant

Gas Supply 15.5% (Where British Gas is the supplier - up to 16%)
Electricity Supply 12.5% (In some regions as much as 20%)
Telephone Services Up to 40% dependent on existing Supplier

Advising the scheme to your members

There are a number of ways of generating interest, with many possible ways for promotion.

Listed below are two of the most popular:-

  • A Letter of Explanation together with a tear off response slip.
  • A brochure outlining the scheme, incorporating a tear off response slip.

We will provide examples of these documents (on diskette if required) enabling your club to provide their own personalised promotional literature to its members.

If you would like copies in the post, please contact Jonathan on the address at the top of this web-page.

Processing

Any club wishing to take advantage of the fund raising initiative will find it a very simple process as the broker, PowerTel Resource Ltd. would undertake the processing and administration.

  1. Any Response Slips would be returned to:-
  2. Either:-  the charity/club/society - this enables the club to monitor the level of response.  The information would be passed to PowerTel Resource Ltd. for processing.
Or:-       directly to PowerTel Resource Ltd., at their Registered Office.

  3. PowerTel Resource Ltd. would send out Gas & Electricity Contracts and the Telecommunications application forms for those interested.
  4. Club members and supporters would complete the contracts and application forms.
They would return these directly to PowerTel Resource Ltd.
  5. Documentation received by PowerTel Resource Ltd. would be logged and passed to the appropriate suppliers and service providers.

Customer conversion to new Gas and Electricity Suppliers takes approximately 42 days from receipt of the documentation. Similarly, conversion to the new Telecommunication’s providers takes between 14 and 21 days.
The customer can change their mind up to 14 days after signature.

These conversion times are industry norms.
