TONBRIDGE on the INTERNET

 
Country walk by the river returning through the Country Park and sports ground. (2 or 4 miles)

1. From entrance to Brightfriars Meadow car park, follow the footpath sign, walking beside the stream which meanders through the water meadows to meet a path from L, one field short of the railway bridge. For 2 mile option go on to point 5.

2. (4 mile option) Pass under railway, following the path to footbridge over stream on L. Cross this, and soon another, and keep to path with main river on L. Continue for ½ mile to follow Wealdway sign L. across concrete bridge into Haysden Country Park

.3. Turn L. along the other bank of the river. Ignore first bridge to R, and continue to next one. Cross and turn L. to Barden Lake. Go round lake to L. or R. (a little longer) to far end.

4. Take obvious tarmac path through trees, turn L. through car park area and L. again to Lucifer Bridge. Cross and turn R. to rejoin the outward path back, passing under railway bridge at point 2.

5. (Both walks) 30 yards on town side of railway bridge take tarmac path R. (L. if on 2 mile option) to cross concrete bridge, where turn R. and follow the river walk round the sports ground, passing boathouses on the way.

6. At the far corner by the children’s play area, turn L. and pass tennis courts and water works . Cross bridge to pass Swimming Pool on R, then L. alongside model railway to car park.
