We believe that a living relationship with Jesus Christ is the best possible foundation for life.

We are a growing Church, joyfully expressing and proclaiming the Kingdom of God.

Being "PENTECOSTAL" describes our character or style, " their devotional life is shows an anti-liturgical Spirit. In theory everything should be free and unrestrained." (the quotation above is taken from Christendom by Dr. E Molland.D.D. published by Mowbrays 1959).

In a Pentecostal meeting it is not uncommon for charismatic gifts to be experienced as found in the BIBLE particularly in the New Testament book of Acts. Pentecostals take the Bible as God’s sole written authority.

Therefore, some of the following may be observed:

  • speaking, singing & praying in tongues ( a language not learned , but given by God)
  • words of interpretation (inspired words of God, Interpreting the previously given spoken tongue)
  • words of prophecy, knowledge & wisdom.
  • Prayers of faith, believing in healing and miracles.
  • Sometimes people find that they can’t stand, in the presence of the Holy Spirit, others laugh or cry.

An introduction to the Tonbridge Pentecostal Church

Tonbridge Pentecostal Church is part of the Church in Tonbridge.

Our Minister, Rev. Ray Saunders, is an active member of the Tonbridge Christian Leaders . (formally known as the Ministers Fraternal, enabling the Anglican, Baptist, Methodist, United Reformed, Evangelical, Roman Catholic & Pentecostal Church Leaders to meet together for Prayer, fellowship & mission, believing that we all are called to work & witness for Jesus Christ, while recognising the rich variety of our individual traditions. )

So we have good links with all the Churches in the area that believe in God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit.

We have absolutely NO connections with:-

Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, Moonies, Spirtualists or any other such Sects.

We are not a "New Church", Tonbridge Pentecostal Church was founded in the late 1920’s and is part of the ASSEMBLIES OF GOD (A.O.G.) (there are more than 900 A.O.G. Churches in Great Britain & Ireland and more than 60 million Pentecostal believers world wide.

SOME QUESTIONS OFTEN ASKED:-

ARE YOU AFTER PEOPLES MONEY? No! Being a self-supporting Church, we obviously need money, no pressure is put on anyone to part
with their money or possessions – those who give do so willingly and anonymously. We are a registered
Charity (No 1054386).– our annual accounts are freely available.
DOES YOUR CHURCH CAUSE FAMILIES TO BREAK UP? No! We teach young people to be loving and obedient to their parents (and kind to their brothers & sisters!).  We want husbands & wives to enjoy & strengthen their relationships with one another, whether they are both part of this Church or not.
ARE YOU A BUNCH OF KILL-JOYS? No! We enjoy life, and believe it should be lived to the full.  We have no restrictive lists of do’s & don’ts, but we do take a stand, for example; against drug abuse, greediness, illicit sex, cruelty, the occult and other evils which damage society and harm young people in particular.
DO YOU CONTROL PEOPLE’S LIVES OR PREVENT THEM FROM LEAVING? No! We teach that faith in JESUS CHRIST is the starting point of the Christian life and believe that this should be followed by baptism. We also encourage new believers be involved in a Bible study for new Christians or those "just looking". We don’t tell people who they may marry, what colour their wallpaper should be or where they should go on holiday! There are no secret rites in the Church and no-one is coerced to be part of the fellowship if they decide not to commit themselves to attend.
